Mateo Zlatar holds an MFA in Design & Technology from Parsons School of Design, New York and an undergraduate degree in Graphic Design from Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, Chile.
His career as Art Director started in advertising in 1994 at DDB, Saatchi & Saatchi, and Young & Rubicam where he got numerous awards at local and international festivals, including a Silver Medal at the Cannes International Festival.
After 5 years in advertising, he packed and settled in New York and enrolled at Parsons where he graduated with honors. After that, he spent the next 5 years working as a freelance designer and consultant for America Online, Deutsch Interactive, Imaginary Forces, New School University, James Sanders Architect and others.
During his time at Parsons Zlatar met Juan Sanabria an Educator and Designer with whom he joined forces in 2005 to form Sourcelab, a design firm specializing in interactive museum and cultural heritage projects. While all of their projects were fulfilling, they were particularly excited about the possibilities that came along with designing for mobile devices. The proverbial perfect storm hit (mobile devices capable of many new things, great clients and cool projects) and in 2010 GuideOne was born as an offspring of Sourcelab. At GuideOne, Zlatar currently leads User Experience and Creative Direction.
